Our journey began over 75 years ago in Beacon, NY, where we initially focused on military-coated fabric products. Over time, our product line evolved to encompass automotive and specialty diaphragm applications, with conveyor belting, joining our offerings in the mid-1960s. Today, Chemprene proudly manufactures these product lines in our expansive 225,000 sq. ft. facility, equipped with cutting-edge rubber coating and curing technologies. This allows us to merge a vast selection of elastomeric materials with various substrates, crafting products that rise to the challenges of the most demanding applications.

1950

Founding and Early Innovations.

Chemprene, originally Chemical Rubber Products, was founded by Tom Martini, Dan Donovan, and Bill Shephard in Beacon, NY. Specialized in coated fabrics for government applications.

1960

Expansion and New Markets.

Entered diaphragm manufacturing together with the belting market with advanced belt curing machinery.

1964

Acquisition and Rebranding.

Acquired by the Richardson Company and rebranded as Chemprene, Inc. Significant expansion and growth followed.

1972

New Facility and Community Commitment.

Established the current facility at 483 Fishkill Avenue, Beacon, NY. Maintained operations within the same community, reflecting dedication to the local workforce.

1982

New Ownership and Resources.

Acquired by the New York-based Witco Corporation. Introduction of new resources and opportunities.

1997

Integration into Ammeraal.

Integrated into Ammeraal, a subsidiary of Gamma Holding, enhancing its strategic position in the market.
Chemprene’s development of ZipLink technology solidified its commitment to industry leadership in producing conveyor belts, enhancing their durability and performance.

2000

Merger and Facility Expansion.

Ammeraal & Verseidag Beltech merged into Ammeraal Beltech.
Chemprene’s facilities were expanded to over 220,000 square feet with state-of-the-art administrative, manufacturing, and laboratory spaces, maintaining complete control over rubber production, and ensuring high-quality standards.

2018

Integration into AMMEGA.

Acquired by Partners Group, Ammeraal Beltech and Megadyne joined under single ownership and leadership, establishing AMMEGA as a premier entity in the belting industry.

2020

Investment and Future Commitment.

Reinforced infrastructure and capabilities embracing our “Built American Proud” (BAP) policy, ensuring readiness for future advancements!
